Detritus and Toes

garlic mustard leaves showing the colour change as the plant starts to fade. The edges of the leaves are red violet against the green central leaf.

Amidst a plowetery day I managed to get outside and pinch some more garlic mustard leaves for my current obsession. I kept a couple fresh for printing, put one back outside because I found caterpillar eggs, and popped the rest in a flower pressing to see how they preserve for further printing. The leaves in the photo are turning, and the colours are just gorgeous.

I am loosely in a gathering quest just now, and I managed to locate the box with my rook skull, so I’ve been sketching that. Funny how you will notice how your looking, seeing and drawing skills have improved with daily practice when you draw something you haven’t drawn for years.

Today’s art share is a figure drawing from my A3 sketchbook, which was my Way In for the day.

a figure drawing using acrylic paint in a sketchbook. The feet are the most prominent part of the drawing.
