
Today I pulled out an old tube of Crimson red acrylic that has been in my stash for years, mostly because the lid was absolutely stuck. I have tried a few times to get it open and failed, but today I persevered and eventually managed to get it to budge. I don’t know what was different today, but the hot water trick worked.
I was expecting the paint to be past its best, given it is old, but it’s perfectly usable, yay. Having gone to all that effort, I decided I’d best use it, so today’s ground is crimson, and I used the same red for today’s colour adventure, along with cad yellow and cobalt blue.
I used a favourite technique for sketching the figure, a stabilo all and a spray bottle, and there’s a bit of texture from that process that was so delicious I left it visible at the knee.
