Silence and Sounds

Today’s 100 Day Project 6×6″ acrylic on canvas.

I am happy to report that the stench and pollution from the recycling site fire, which I believe is still smoking, has not been reaching us today, so I am headache free with normal eyes.

This meant I could do the project I had been wanting to try all week, which was to sit outside and try mark-making in response to the sounds I hear. I found it really interesting because I am quite sensitive to sensory input, and I really like silence, but this was a different way to engage with sounds and noise.

I got some really fun marks, and filled a page, and I was feeling all chuffed sitting on the step at my back door. Then I tried to get up, having had no problem getting seated, and my delightful perimenopausal knees decided at that moment to announce they’re in a rebellious phase.

If anyone was watching, I hope they got a laugh.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
