Today I did some skin tones colour mixing. I do a lot of skin tones mixing, and I don’t think I will ever run out of possible combinations. I quite often use yellow ochre, but today I swapped in raw sienna for a change.
The palette: raw sienna, naples yellow, cad red, ultramarine, zinc white and titanium white
I didn’t mix many of the darker values because I went on a side quest experimenting with the two different whites. The zinc white is interesting because it creates more of a glaze, and leaves a warmer tint.
To use up the paint I mixed, I painted the figure on the right in my sketchbook, and I really enjoyed the glazes, and building the layers. I may have accidentally found a solution for a couple of canvases I have sitting waiting for the next part of their story.
I’m going to do more exploring with both raw sienna and the zinc white.
Til the morn,
