Down Then Up

My mood from yesterday continued into today, and for some reason I decided to pull out the oil paints and start a portrait.

Can I just say that when you are feeling down, painting somewhere in the safe zone might be the tonic you need. In other words, the first stage of today’s painting went straight to the ugly stage.

Feeling dejected I curled up on the sofa and chose doomscrolling. It might be the first time such a choice has been a good one, because at the top of my Insta feed was a post from the Scottish Society of Artists, and there on display is one of my paintings.

!

The small works section of the exhibition has browser boxes and a wall display, so getting onto the wall isn’t guaranteed. Last year I got a photo of my painting on the wall because we put it there for the photo. This year I’m one of the chosen ones.

It’s a small thing, and a really big thing for me, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

Yay

Til the morn,

Suzanne
