I’m completely smitten with my pan pastels, and I don’t think I have even scratched the surface of their versatility. Here I’m using them over acrylic, and I’m loving how this turned out, especially given it went through a particularly “ugly stage”.
Someone was waxing unlyrical about drawing from reference photos recently, and the problem is you could never ask a live model to hold a pose like this for anything other than a photograph. Even just sitting in a simple pose is hard. I’m not interested in snobbish rubbish from self-identified purists be judgemental about how people make art, especially in terms of reference photos. Prrrrp.
Now my dilemma, a tiny one in the great scheme of things, is can my pan pastels work in a travel art kit scenario? I’ve probably already decided the answer to this.
Til the morn,
