It’s pink but it’s white

I have this tube of fluorescent pink acrylic that is almost finished, and it’s a few years old, so I’m on a mission to finish the tube. I smeared it on this sketchbook page, where it is less likely to be a fugitive, but it makes working my values kind of interesting because it is actually a very light value, and if I was thinking about it, which I wasn’t, I could have left it peaking through at the highlights. This is the first go at a new pose, so I’m not too fussed. I like the prominent foot, I want to rework the arms.

I got up to quite a lot in the studio today, and one thing I’m doing is going through paintings and looking for things I like: brushwork, mark-making, paint effects etc. I’m not exceptional at making notes like this, so I’m going to try and create some sort of reference of marks and techniques that I like, and recreate them in a sketchbook.

I did some little bits and pieces on some of my wips, and got a bit of a production line going. Nothing got finished, but things got moved along a little.

All in all a good day.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
