
Changing up the way I paint is good for my brain, especially my brain after a migraine, or, arguably, in late-stage migraine.
For this exercise I decided to limit my brushstrokes and mark-making, and I was working quickly. I think this would be interesting to try at a slower pace too, and a totally different exercise, really.
The top two were done using a shitty brush and acrylic paint, and both portraits were limited to ten brushstrokes only.
The bottom two portraits were done with drawing ink in a water brush pen, and I think I gave myself fifteen brushstrokes for the one on the left, and the one on the right was a single continuous line contour drawing, and I wasn’t looking at the drawing for much of the time.
