Both the temperature and the humidity dropped today, although it was still hot and humid by normal standards, but not as unbearable as the last few days. 100% humidity is just unfair.
Anyway, I got a lot more time in the studio today, and got some good work done.
I started out in the A5 sketchbook now designated as a one-a-day book, and sketched a hare in black fineliner (bottom right). This is a hare I keep coming back to, and I pulled out a work-in-progress on paper that I started a while back, and did some more work there (left).
I had another piece of the same paper prepped with drips that I never got around to putting a hare on, so I did some painting there (top right). They all turn out with different personalities, which I love.
I was flipping through all my hare sketches and ideas, and an idea arose, which then evolved into another idea, so there’s two things brewing. To try and get the ideas on paper, I got an A3 sketchbook up on the easel and ended up with two pages. The first is the middle right image up there.
This is basically trying something out based on another sketch from a sketchbook. The page I am not showing today, because sometimes things need to compost before I’m ready to share, is my favourite page of the day, and maybe even the year.
It has felt like quite a trudge of a week between heatwave, humidity and less than good quality sleep, so I’m happy to end the weekend feeling like there’s good things going on in the sketchbooks and whatnot.
Til the morn,
Suzanne
