Painting Without Seeing Colour

The heat continues to build, and I continue to grunch aboot it.

I spent most of the day working in sketchbooks, in the coolest room in the house, but I did get the paint out to play with this portrait for a while.

I plopped some colours on a gel plate and then experimented with mixing values using the red perspex. This means you can’t see the colour, just the value, and get a surprise when you eventually look at it.

I added in some Stabilo All for a bit of driptastic fun.

It’s going to be even hotter tomorrow.

Pfft.

      I’m in Scotland, air conditioning has never been necessary. Our houses are built to keep heat in.
