I did a bit of rearranging today. I have a large box full of canvases in various sizes, but I never use them because the box had a wooded board on top that became a kind of shelf for other things. So I’ve shuffled things around a bit, and maybe I will start using more of the canvases that I have accumulated. Bit of a waste if I don’t.
I did a bit of dirtying a few up with paint, just to get rid of the blank canvas scenario, but the heatwave is back, and the paint was drying fast.
I had the same problem with the quine above, the paint was almost dry as soon as it hit the page, which makes it difficult to smoosh around the way I like to.
I got a not-very-exciting parcel the day. Two new A2 drawing boards, but I mean how excited can you get over a drawing board? I will use them a lot, as I have been struggling with only having two and liking to leave things taped to the board for a while.
The parcel also had a roll of rice paper, which is a paper I have not had in my stash for some reason. I’ll be trying it out with the gel plate at some point. I also got a roll of Seawhite cartridge paper. I really don’t need paper, but it was on offer, and meant I’d get free postage, and I am definitely not buying any more paper/surfaces/sketchbooks for a while.
Definitely not.
There was also a delicious red brush pen, because for some reason I don’t have enough red pens either. It’s very brushy, tho, and very red. There’s also a free red pen with this month’s Artists and Illustrators magazine, which was handed to me with my coffee, so it’s a day for mark-making in red.
There’s an article about one of my favourite artists, Jenny Saville, with lots of lovely images of her amazing portraits. I don’t live near London, so I won’t be seeing the exhibition of her work, so I’ll just salivate over the magazine.
Til the morn,
Suzanne
