I did not get stuck into the next stage of my textured self-portrait today. I put it up on the easel and moved it off the easel four times. I shuffled through my rack of works-in-progress and sorted them into vague categories. I eventually accepted that I was in procrastination mode, and got stuck into my vague Hares project.
This is why I have been trying to cultivate a scenario where I have a bunch of in-progress things, and no negativity around starting new things when other things are unfinished, because when I am procrastinating about something, which is a different process entirely from letting something rest for a while, I have other things I can jump into, instead of entering the block territory.
I have been musing about doll making recently, and having lots of ideas, and I definitely have almost everything I need (note the “almost” 😉 ), and I cut out a basic stump doll pattern yesterday. I am not sure what is going to happen, but in my sketchbooks I am circling the idea of a Hare stump doll.
Because why make life simple and just start with a basic human-like doll? Why not add in the challenge of gorgeous long ears at jaunty angles?
I have yet to circle around what a hare stump doll would have for arms. Would they be hare paws, or human-like hands? As I’m typing, I’m thinking that a shapeshifter doll with human-like arms is the direction of travel here.
A package of Bondaweb arrived today, this is for the part of the doll project involving making my own fabric. Naturally I didn’t measure the piece of fabric I cut for the base of the fabric when I ordered the Bondaweb, and naturally the Bondaweb pack is looking like it will be a very tight fit for the fabric. I’m embarrassed to admit this, given that I used to manage a fabric shop. It was a long time ago. Things change.
It turns out Bondaweb is also political, given the price increase in the UK since that 2016 vote. Pfft.
What does a hare wear, tho?
Til the morn,
