I ended up with only a short amount of time for art today, and I decided I wanted to give my portrait a rest, and have some space from it, before going in to hopefully finish.
Instead I did some simple play in my old sketchbook, not really trying to create anything, just moving paint around, and enjoying the process. This was helped along by the arrival of some new painting tools that arrived…

Yes, they are kitchen utensils, and they were a bargain for the quality, but they definitely aren’t going in the kitchen, because they’ve already been put to use mark-making with paint.
Here’s a page I made with three colours, and there are some lovely areas of texture and smeared colours. I am definitely going to be covering a canvas like this.

Another snippet from the day is the gel plate print I pulled from the leftover paint from yesterday’s portrait session that I had painted onto the gel plate and left to dry.

It’s absolutely delicious, and I’ve added it to the collage fodder stash.
Hoping for more time tomorrow!
Til the morn,
