Happy New Year!
I started early with the first art of the year, not least because some bam was letting off fireworks nearby, despite it being horrific weather with 40-50mph wind gusts. Since I wasn’t settling to sleep, I got up and made some art.
The paper is 12×16″ 140lb hot press, and I used charcoal to sketch out the face. I used my own face and a hand mirror, but I was not going for a likeness, just a reference.
Charcoal and gesso, charcoal and gesso, and then I brought in some Inktense sticks, water and more gesso.
The fireworks eventually died down, and I got some sleep, and today we took a wander to the beach after the worst of the weather had passed.
2025, please can the human race turn a corner, thanks.
