One Hour Portrait

Lots of painting and pottering in the studio room today, a very satisfying day. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and set a timer for one hour with the challenge of doing a portrait study in oils. This is not something I have any practise in, but I figure if I can enjoy speedy painting in acrylics, why not oils.

I had a lot of fun, and although the portrait is hilariously wonky, I love it. It’s in a canvas pad, a sketchbook if you like, and while the proportions and angles are all wrong, I managed my paint well, and didn’t mix mud.

Those canvas pads I got for 50p need to be filled 🙂

Til the morn,

Another David Tennant portrait? Love it, wonkiness and all! 💜

Yes, same reference as the previous one. In the photo his head has a very slight tilt, and I keep straightening the tilt, but painting the features at the angle, so it’s a reference I’ll be going at again lol

Well, truth be told, you can never have too much David Tennant! 😂 Looking forward to the next try!
