Monday Moulachin

Moulachin aboot nae muckle tae show fur it, ken.

A bit of Scots language there, for you.

Swatching acrylics again today, and isn’t it pretty? I really haven’t done this for a long time, and it shows. I’m doing this in part to kind of appraise what I have, because I have so many paints now things tend to get forgotten, and I’m also doing it because I have a sketchbook project in mind, with a dedicated sketchbook (!) (yes, a new one), that is all about colour.

While I was swatching today I laid aside two tubes that have been hanging around for a long time. One won’t open at all, so I’m going to open the arse-end and decant it into one of my round pots, and the other is a cerulean blue that has separated. It’s not quite dead paint, so I’ve decanted that into one of my round pots and mixed in some matt medium. I’m just going to use it to smear onto grounds to use it up, so there may be a blue phase imminent.

It’s a useful exercise because I have so many different brands, that come in different packaging – tubes, bottles, pots, tubes that stand up, pouches, and it’s easy to forget what I have, so this is updating my stash reference, and making some notes on paints that are similar colours, but different consistencies.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
