Learning Curves

I’ve been trying out a couple of different art supplies this week, and today’s experiment is trying out the primary set of Golden Open acrylics I acquired. I did have two tubes of Open in my stash, I think they came with a sample pack I got in a sale, so I have just about my basic palette covered.

You can use them with other acrylics, but they stop being open as soon as they are mixed, but I had saved those two tubes for the day I might have a wider selection.

They are fun to use, and a kind of cross between acrylics and oils in the way they go on the canvas. It will be interesting to see how the open time compares to the open time of standard acrylics mixed with slow-drying medium. These are more buttery to use, but it initially feels like you need more paint that oils, if that makes sense.

I could go and read up on them, but I prefer to just play and find my own way with new things. This is a good, enjoyable, first pass on a wee canvas tho.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
