I paint every day, and blog about it, and the content belongs to me, not a billionaire tech bro with dodgy politics. The first thing I noticed when I went to my studio today was this overbearing “this is for Instagram it has to be good” thinking. This is not usually something I deal with in my daily practice.
Yes, I quite often deal with various versions of the inner critic, resistance, and procrastination, but part of my practice has been letting that happen and not getting too bothered when things don’t work out, but the Insta-thinking, or the Meta-pressure, or whatever fun name I will come up with to try and disrupt it, is different. Maybe that’s part of the project.
Since I’m not setting a goal around the number of boards, and I’m not demanding a finished board a day of myself, I’m quite satisfied with having two boards started today. Neither are finished, both are really value studies at this point.
I have decided that mini figures on these boards are more fun to paint with oils, after using acrylics for these ones today, so I’m noting that.
Til the morn,
