One Square Hour

I enjoyed this little oil painting more than the previous ones, so it’s the same lesson as always – repetition brings results.

I have a lot of resistance around oil painting, and I think a lot of that is noise, because I do really love the open nature of the paint. There’s also no reason to use the solvents, even the “odour-free” ones (that are only odour-free if you aren’t me).

A year ago any attempt to put a full figure in a 6″ square would have been a discarded disaster, so I’m happy to observe my own progress in this week’s work, even if I feel like I have been swimming in treacle for a few days.

Keep painting, paint disasters, and eventually the shift happens, even if the weather outside has descended into whatever the fuck that is.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
