Revisiting the Trio

Pulled out the long narrow figure trio again today, amongst other things. This has become an interesting and possibly frustrating challenge.

Firstly I didn’t start this as a series, I started it as a single painting. I had no idea I wanted to do a series, i just wanted to see how a figure looked in that shape of canvas.

Secondly, I made no notes of the colour palette that I can remember, and the first of the three was quite far along before I decided on adding two more.

So there’s a nice lesson in all the wisdom of doing a series, and how not to do it.

I do like the idea, so now I’m finding my way back in with colour mixing, and playing, and the original painting might get a rework, or I might find the colour palette with a few attempts.

I did make notes of colours I mixed in my colour book today, so that’s an improvement on the way this project started.

Yesterday’s painting was staring at me today, and giving me all sorts of ideas that I have scribbled in my notebook. Not necessarily thinking of altering the painting, but using it as a jumping off point for something else.
