Another day of mixing things up and rotating projects.
I prepped a canvas for an idea that I had a while ago, but forgot about until today when I was flipping through a sketchbook and came across the sketch. After the gesso was dry I decided to try out some of the flexible modelling paste I got during one of my recent trips north. I think I might have been a bit dainty with the application, as some of the marks have kind of sunk. I can give it another go to find out how much I need to use.
I decided to use my gel plate for actual gel printing today, and I made myself a texture plate using some metal focals that I have in my jewellery-making stash. The prints in the photo show two versions, one with the turquoise paint as the pick up, and one with the burnt sienna as the pick up. I prefer the turquoise as the main character. I like the way the texture plate worked.
Painting-wise I worked on four canvases from my hands studies project, just adding paint layers, or ink layers, and trying things out.
Tomorrow is perhaps going to be the most challenging day yet for getting a creative session in, so we’ll see how that goes.
Til the morn,
Suzanne
