This is on a canvas board, and so far I am mostly happy with it, but I am changing the orange tomorrow, because it’s making me itch.
Other things that happened today include opening a box from Jackson’s, yay. There was also the culmination-ish of a palette experiment, a new A4 sketchbook started, and a small art kit for walking put together.
The palette is a success. I set it up half way through October, and used some older acrylics to fill the wells so that if it failed, and they dried out, it wouldn’t be a massive loss. The paints are fine, so the palette is going to work.
I gave it a go as a starter page for the ne A4 sketchbook I started, and immediately decided there needs to be a magenta on the palette, but that might not matter if I’m just sketching. The sketchbook is started, tho, so that’s good. Sometimes I feel a bit weird with a new book, but I’ve made a mess of the first two pages, so I’m happy with that.
I am trying to get started on an outdoor sketching habit, which is hilarious because it’s October in Scotland. I haven’t ventured out with materials yet, but I am having fun with the palette idea, and also putting together a little zipper case with a small sketchbook and some dry supplies. I got some cute little test-tube jars for charcoal, which make me happy. I have no idea when I will start, but it’s about to rain, so not today.
While writing this and staring at that painting, I think I’ve solved the orange dilemma, so tomorrow is sorted.
Til the morn,
Suzanne
