Today I have been rotating this batch of canvases, which is a process I am really enjoying.
I have been trying out different mixes for the skin tones, and correcting some of the shapes as I go. These will be evolving in layers because there are definitely some changes and choices to be made, but it’s a really fun and loose process.
Another thing that I was doing today was trying to repair a painting. It is a portrait that I really loved when I finished it, and then I stacked it against my art table in the study around the time I was starting the transformation of the other room into my study. Then I had a gesso party on a sketchbook at the tall table, and some time late discovered the gesso had also ended up on my beautiful painting 😦
Entirely my own fault.
I tried to fix it by gently rubbing the gesso with some isopropyl alcohol, but I didn’t think it was working, so I just left the painting alone and was sad. Well that was months ago, and today I tried again with the isopropyl alcohol and did manage to get more gesso off, and then I decided I could try repainting the damaged part. It will either work, or it won’t but trying is better than not, and it’s looking hopeful so far.
Top tip: stack you finished work away from where you are flinging paint around.
Til the morn,
