A Wee Monkey

It’s always a good idea to decided you are going to paint a painting as a gift two days before you’re due to visit the people your intended gift is for.

That’s what I did today, and I’m absolutely convinced it will not be finished by Sunday, but you never know.

Yesterday I watched a documentary about Marlene Dumas, related to a birthday book I got, and some of the doc was filming her preparing for an exhibition, and the way she just rolled out some paper, poured paint on in her own way, and almost instantly had a portrait or figurative work absolutely stuffed with emotion was mesmerising.

It made me think about how I may have gotten over the block of just painting every day, but there are still a lot of fences, mostly self-built, around my creative process. I’m going to work on that.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
