It’s even hotter than yesterday, so I should consider knocking the acrylic painting on the head for a while. I decided this after I was already committed to this piece, tho, so I kept going.
The boring parcel of yesterday becomes the interesting basis for this exercise. I cut a piece off the cartridge paper roll to fit the A2 board, and set it up on the easel. It’s 140gsm paper, which is around the weight of paper in sketchbooks I like painting in, and it stood up quite well to the scrubbing.
As I observed yesterday, the heat is making the paint dry quickly, so I’m guessing this paper will be more fun when we have less heat.
I used a sketch from my recently completed sketchbook as the reference, and one of the large shitty brushes, and Ara acrylic in yellow ochre.
Almost forgot, Swerve Magazine are running an open call for postcard art, the Palestine Postcard Project, with proceeds going to UNRWA. This Instagram post has all the details if you would like to participate.
Til the morn,
