Minor painting happened, correcting a couple of the values on my portrait, and there was an attempt to recreate an old texture painting. I can’t remember how I did some of it, and there’s no notes, so there’s another top tip – make notes, don’t do what I do.

I upgraded my tool stash today, and I’m smitten with all of them. I was getting scunnert wi the eyelet pliers that I had, they were squishing the eyelets out of shape, and hurting my hand. Since I’ve suddenly become obsessed with all sorts of ideas for eyelets, I decided to purchase a decent tool. This tool also handily punches the hole in the fabric, and I got my little denim cloth book made up in the time it was taking me to squeeze one eyelet into place with the old pliers.
Continuing the theme of book-making, I got a lovely wooden bookbinding punch guide that is going to shave so much time off the fiddly hole-making part of bookbinding. It works like a dream.
Last but not least, I acquired a Gyro-Cut Pro tool. I bought the one with the deep blade, because the stash of acetate I have been collecting tends to be the thicker stuff, and now I’m finally going to use it for its intended purpose.
The blade is super sharp, and I managed not to slice a finger off, so that’s a good start. I just drew a random, silly shape on the acetate with a Sharpie, then cut around it. I ended up with a stencil and a mask, so double the fun. I’m really happy with them, even though my cutting wasn’t perfection, I guess there’s a bit of a learning curve…
Til the morn,
