Multiple Excitement

I’m excited about multiple things today. The first thing to note is that I cut another strip off that bolt of cotton canvas fabric I’ve had in my art/craft/hoard stash since the nineties and primed it. The pieces I primed a while back are still waiting for paint, but they are smaller, and I’m going for a 16×24″ inch painting. I have all the ideas for it. I’m excited.

Now, a piece of canvas with clear primer on it is a bit of a boring photo for the blog, so up there is the next thing I am excited about, although it occurs to me that’s not in chronological order, but since I am now living in a country where the government wants shop staff to check women’s genitals before we access a fitting room to try on a piece of clothing, all in the name of the JKAnon cult, is anyone expecting logic of any kind? Fascists banning trans people from public life and willingly creating a sexual harassment free for all.

Anyway.

I tried out the permanent fixative on a couple of papers with my little drawing, and I think I saved the best til last, because the results I have so far are very exciting, and the whole thing has been quite exciting. Well, for me, your mileage may vary. I’ve only tested the Winsor & Newton Professional Fixative, and it has come out brilliant. I also have the Jackson’s fixative to try, but I am doing the happy dance already.

The other thing that I am very excited about is the contents of a parcel that arrived today. I bought a job lot of trim and fabric remnants with some idea of what I was getting, and a view to using them for a Thing. When I opened the parcel I nearly fell over with excitement, they are all far too gorgeous to use for the Thing I had in mind, and immediately started sparking all sorts of other ideas.

I had no idea what a kilo of fabric remnants would look like, and there’s no way to show it all to you, but there’s hunners of pieces and they are all gorgeous.

I’m absolutely appalled at the way the UK government is treating trans women, and the way that is going to impact all women, which we have been warning about for YEARS, so I am glad to have some joy to balance that out, because everything is very grim.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
