Another day with very little time for art. Poo. I probably could have had more time if I hadn’t procrastinated my way through my To Do list, but who needs that kind of self-reflection. Good grief.
The second parcel of very large canvases, which were a replacement for the ones that arrived damaged a couple of weeks ago, arrived today.
You could tell by the massive boot print on the box that things weren’t going in my favour.
I just didn’t have the spoons to start a further complaint with the company. I mean I know these are cheap canvases – that’s the point, they’re cheap so I can play with painting large without fretting about the thing I’m painting on being costly. But I still expect to get a canvas that’s whole.
ugh
My commitment to doing art every day has few parameters, so as to accommodate days like today where there’s very little time, and even less gumption. So I returned to an older practise that I haven’t done for a while – drawing in my Strathmore Gray without a reference.
It’s interesting the way this used to be a freeing, playful practise, but after so much portrait practise using references it felt less-than. Of course it isn’t less-than, tronies are very much a part of art, so I can let that little intervention from my inner critic go.

Til the morn,
