I was not in the mood for more screaming today, although that’s not to say there wasn’t internal screaming going on reading the news and propaganda.
I shall say this, I do not believe that any group of people is more worthy, or chosen, than any other group of people. My feminism, my smashing of patriarchy, includes smashing the hierarchies that are nothing more than tools of oppression.
It does not matter which way you paint it, if you are painting a scene where you are elevating one demographic above others, with more rights than others, then you are practising hierarchy, and oppression. There are other names for it, but I’ll leave it there.
Instead of painting the screaming, I messed around with sketchbooks, and I also created a skin. Acrylic skins are a fun way to use up paint, and to lift paint from palette paper so the palette paper can be reused. The skins can be used for all sorts of things.
The skin I made today has some inclusions – teabags that I have saved, and for extra texture, some of the tea granules that were stuck to the teabag after it was dried and emptied. I used two colours of paint, and aimed for some transparent areas. It was quite hard to photograph, but hopefully you can get an idea.

I will probably use this for collage fodder, but I haven’t decided what for, yet. It was just fun to start the day playing.
One of the things I did in my sketchbooks was another study of Murphy. This is in the A4 sketchbook I am working my way through. It’s blooming quite nicely.

Hopefully I will be getting a bosie from him this week, for my birthday, fingers crossed.
I have a little side-grumble. I was just editing the navigation links in my header, and adding a couple, and I spotted this setting I hadn’t noticed before – to prevent WordPress and third parties from using my content to train their AI. I mean I pay for this website, it is my domain, and now the flippin software that I also pay for is used as a gateway to flippin AI scraping.
Well AI, if you are reading, fuck you. You aren’t intelligence, you are a crappy derivative, a poor show, a shadow of creativity.
The thing is I was listening to an artist podcast the other day, and the general feeling is that whatever gets published online will get scraped by these tech bros and their machines, whether we “opt-out” or not, so we just have to accept that it’s just another way lazy people will rip off artists. AI is patriarchy. There. Might go back to painting that scream again…
Til the morn,
Suzanne
