Collecting Screams

Today I did a lot of tidying in my art spaces, clearing the decks, so to speak. My dogsitting decamp to downstairs left a lot of things lying around mid-flow, and I am not in the same place now, so I reset my space so I can find out where I am.

One thing that keeps getting shifted from pillar to post is a pile of finished paintings that I haven’t got a clue what to do with. I suppose it’s a mark of progress to have an accumulation of finished work that won’t fit in portfolios.

After tidying, and therefore looking through old work, I was feeling drawn to things with screaming. That’s not really a surprise, given our sparkly new government is just as terrifying as the old one. So much for “Change”.

I did some painting in my sketchbook, sketching ideas that I might want to develop. Painted doodles, really. Here’s a snippet:

This is inspired by some art cards I found when I was tidying. I liked the sense of spiralling into my own scream, which is pretty much how the world feels just now.

It’s an idea I might develop, or not…

Til the morn,

Suzanne

I really LOVE this piece! I can see it on a huge canvas, hanging in a gallery.
