It’s Just Paint

I remember when getting the Tories out meant getting the Tories out. It no longer does. They’re wearing a different coloured ribbon, tho, woop woop.

I wrote a long political post, and then condensed it down to the above. There you have it. We aren’t headed in a good direction.

Anyway, I got a bit of time with my sketchbook today, and continued my current practise with my shitty brushes, caput mortuum acrylic mixed with gel medium, and loose portrait sketching.

It’s a really good practise for the obvious things, like seeing the shapes, and tonal value, and proportion, and it’s also fun in terms of loading your brush. Too much paint gives bloopers, too little doesn’t go far. I don’t mind the bloopers, tho, it’s just paint.

Both these references I have used before, in different mediums, and I enjoy exploring the same image in different ways.

I’m not sure if the picture shows how wonky that brush is, but it’s getting wonkier with practise. Yay.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
