Rotating Sketchbooks

I spent the day in several sketchbooks today, rotating as things dried. This is a process I enjoy, and find it results in ideas springing out of nowhere. This happened today, but the first version of the idea required my printer for a part of it, and my printer wasn’t playing.

It’s the first time I have tried to print something since we replaced our old router, so I am guessing there is some magic wand setting that needs to be discovered to get everything talking to everything else. I couldn’t be bothered, frankly, so I am delegating.

This meant I lost my flow, but I had a word with myself, and decided to just paint the idea, instead of doing some monoprinting with the gel plate. I started in a sketchbook that was part of my sketchbook purchasing frenzy a while back, that resulted in several new, absolutely necessary sketchbooks, most of which are still waiting for their first splash of paint.

But, now that the moment arrived, I had just the right sketchbook to use today, so my advice is always buy the sketchbooks, and never apologise if they aren’t immediately worked in.

As I said, I worked in several sketchbooks, and I’ve chosen this page, which is half of a spread, as the image for this blog post. It’s another version of the little figure from a sketchbook that I have been playing around with recently. This time scratched on with my Shitty Brushes (which really aren’t shitty at all to me, but the name seems to have stuck).

I have an idea where this is going, but I’ll leave that on the other half of the spread, for now.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
