Wildflowers

Happy Sunday

I don’t have a lot of chat today, mostly because I had a lively night of insomnia, and I’m knackered.

We are still dog-sitting, and on one of our daunders I spotted a nice clump of purple Granny’s Bonnets sharing space with some dainty Cow Parsely, and so that’s what I sketched in my sketchbook today.

I’m not a botanical artist, but it’s not that different to drawing faces, or anything else, just look for the shapes.

I was watching YouTube artists videos the other night, and one thing that I recall being said (and if I remember which video it was I will link it later) by an artist was that she spends a lot of time in sketchbooks, but what happens in her sketchbook isn’t always obviously related to what ends up on her canvas. I’m paraphrasing, but words to that effect.

Building a sketchbook practise definitely frees you up in that respect. Filling the pages with whatever springs to mind without thinking about the session in terms of finished art.

Til the morn,

Suzanne
