100 Day Project Day 99
My hands are covered in paint and various mediums, and there are all sorts of art supplies spread out on every available surface, and my paint water jars are disgusting, and I have been working in my sketchbooks for around four hours, maybe more.
I did have half an hour in the garden before the rain started, while I was waiting for sketchbooks to dry so I could move on to the next set of pages. That’s part of the creative process too.
Because I didn’t have much time yesterday, I didn’t get into the sketchbook I’m hoping to fill by tomorrow, so my plan of four pages per day went the way of most of these types of goals. It doesn’t matter, just as it doesn’t matter if I don’t succeed in getting the book filled by tomorrow.
I did get several pages filled today, and I really enjoyed the process. The pages are sketchbook pages – they are about generating ideas, or playing with supplies, especially supplies I don’t often grab, and some pages are just wtf.
I went through a short phase of covering up pages in sketchbooks I don’t like, but when I thought about that, I decided it wasn’t good for my practise to view my sketchbook work in terms of how it will look online. So these days if I make a wonky pages, I just shrug and move on. Often when I come back later there’s still a moment in the page that sparks me.

Sometimes making art isn’t about finishing, or making a nice piece, sometimes it’s just about working fast and moving your body and caring less.
Til the morn,
Suzanne
