Operation Sketchbook

100 Day Project Day 96

I’m still thinking that it would be affa fine to finish one of my sketchbooks alongside completing the 100 Day Project, so I’ve put little page markers in the book to mark out how many pages I need to fill each day to get it done. It’s basically two spreads, or four pages per day. Some days I do that anyway. I’ve set that in motion for myself, and we’ll see how it goes.

Today I did those four pages of sketchbook practise, and one of the pages is a figure pose I am obsessed with just now. This is my first sketch of the pose, and I intend to do a few of these until I get the complexity nailed, then maybe a painting.

I really enjoy trying to capture complex poses with odd angles, surprising lines, and, well, a bit of cheek. Some of the gestural marks are still visible in this drawing, so you can see how it started.

This was sketched using my chonky mechanical pencil with the 5mm lead. I ike it because you cannot be precious with a pencil that is almost a crayon.

Til the morn,
