100 Day Project Day 65
Something I love about doing a layered mixed media piece is the way the end result is never known until you get to it. The process of adding and pushing back, and adding and pushing back, until an area, or the whole painting, is resolved.

This painting is an older painting that’s one of my favourites, and it went through many layers before it ended up here.

I found this capture of where this painting was around the third layer, so you can see there was a lot of adding and discarding before it resolved into the final form.
I’m thinking about that as I am taking my Medusa selfie altered book spread through an unresolved, ugly stage. I can see things that I want to change, and I have left a couple of things undone, so that I have an easy place to begin tomorrow.
She is definitely nowhere near finished, but I’m having a lot of fun with this one.

I’m absolutely loving the random placement of the words ‘stories’ and ‘boundaries’ that are saved from the third layer journaling, and the way they fit with her/me. That was not planned at all, it just evolved as the piece evolves.
A new class for Let’s Face It dropped today, and I am already excited about what I’m going to do for my response. I still have two classes that I haven’t started, but I decided last week to jump to the current weeks, and work those two in when I have time. There are no rules.
I’ve prepped a canvas, and selected my own reference image, and hopefully I can spend time tomorrow wandering between Medusa and a new painting, because I really like that way of working.
Dear Diary, I had a good art day today 🙂
Til the morn,
Suzanne
