100 Day Project Day 45
In a wild attempt to produce three class paintings so I can catch up with Let’s Face It, I worked on two paintings today.
I had prepped both the substrates the other day, so I had no excuses, but you can be rest-assured that all manner of procrastination was undertaken.
Eventually I put myself in front of the easel and started on the one below. It’s a dinky wee canvas, on 6″ square, and really shouldn’t be terrifying at all. It’s not, it’s the thought of it that’s terrifying, the over-thinking. Once I actually got started, and set myself the goal of completing the underpainting, I enjoyed the process.
The underpainting needs to dry, so I decided to start the next class and get the drawing part done. It’s a much larger substrate, but being in the sketching zone, I got the charcoal out and got some basic shapes down. I’ll probably refine a bit more tomorrow, but it will be nice to have something ready to go with paint.
Both are oil paintings, so I’m looking forward to some more experience with those.

Til the morn,
Suzanne
