Junk Journal Crow 6/100

junk journal page with a scratchy grungey background with mark making and doodle showing through a thin layer of gesso. A crow in flight with roughly rendered wings stretched behind almost like angerl wings. The crow is straining its head and beak down slightly to the left. Its tail is fanned out behind.

100 Day Project Day 6

My junk journal is made from actual junk mail, and it is impossible to be precious about anything that is happening inside it. It just begs to be covered in non-dominant handed scribbles, and layers of grungey texture.

That’s where I ended up today, after doing some pottering trying to get control of my creative space, especially my big table. This involved doing some sealing of graphite and charcoal drawings with fixative, which a job I’m not fond of because it’s stinky. The drawing are sealed, so the sketchbooks are no longer taking up space on the table. Pat on the back.

I have an idea for something involving a crow in flight, so today was just playing with the idea in my junk journal, trying out shapes, and layers of colour, and making some notes.

I’m still procrastinating about my oil painting, and I’m writing that here until I get fed up of writing it, and just finish the thing.

Til the morn,

Suzanne

That’s a fabulous looking crow! I agree with sproadicnonsense, that you can see the motion in it. I feel as if I’m looking up at a bird in flight, and whose gaze is fixed on their target. ❤

Thank you, the bird does have a target in mind, so I’m glad that I captured that sense.
